Can you help with replacing ugly Ikea shelves?
Hi, I bought this white tv stand because the X design
matches the X in my chairs. BUT now this Ikea shelving looks GOD AWFUL! What should I put next to the tv stand now? I wanted something tall to help separate the kitchen area from the TV area. But if it is too tall it dwarves the tv stand. I need help deciding height. Then the color... I was going to go white. But white seems to matchy matchy with the tv stand. Then the black of the TV stands out which I don't want the TV to stand out so much. I was thinking something grey next to the stand to match the grey of the counter tops. Should I just paint the TV stand gray too? Also the open shelving is TOO Messy! I would like a hutch for the toaster oven because it frees up some counter space... BUT It's not a requirement. I am an open slate really BUT I will not rearrange my furniture because this has taken me forever!
MY style is shabby chic, rustic, coastal, FRENCH FARMHOUSE, Scandinavian, Mid-century modern. I'm not tied to the colors in the Floor Plan picture that's just what was there to choose from. Thank YOU. I am suffering from TOO many choices!

PRO5 years agoI think I'd ditch both units and get one long, low media unit in white to fill the space. Right now, there's too much furniture and it's feeling cluttered. You can put up wall shelving (vs. a bookcase) above the unit on the side closest to the kitchen. Something like this:

Thank You. I used to have this behemouth in that area.
It is 31 inches tall so almost even with my countertop. Is that too high for a TV? ALSO I just bought that TV STAND! AARRRGGHHHH.... but I love your idea! simple shelves would be better than another huge piece of furniture. And really I have enough counter space because I can use my huge table for food prep so the toaster oven can go in the kitchen proper.
