A new homeowner here. Need some advice on how (and whether) to seal a possible leak in the HVAC ductwork / housing of the upflow coil.
I have noticed that whenever the furnace / blower is running, air is being blown from the area marked in the photo. If I understand the system correctly, the white piping is a drain line and the “brown box” it goes into is an upflow coil (which sits on top of the furnace and at the top end is connected to the ductwork that distributes heated air into the rooms). When the blower is running, there is air is coming from under the housing / opening around the drain pipe.
The opening below the drain pipe (and the connection to the furnace) is sealed with metal tape.

My question: Should similarly I seal the opening around this pipe all the way with metal tape?

The furnace was inspected a few months back by a technician and everything checked out OK. But, if I can increase the efficiency by sealing this leak, I would like to do it.

To seal or not to seal? Appreciate your advice.
