artemis_ma - that's a scary thought. Too bad old house haters continue to ruin good homes instead of buying or building their all open-concept McMansions.

Neither cool nor tragic........It doesn't fit, but likewise I don't think it ruins the entirety because it's off to the side, smaller, and much less visible. I know it's "cool" to hate things that don't conform, but I really don't see it as that bad. I wouldn't have made that choice if I was the one building that addition, but I also wouldn't let it keep me from buying a house that would otherwise be right for me and I wouldn't tear it down. Not a popular opinion, I know, but I wouldn't create all that mess in demolition and rebuilding over something that, while I don't like it, doesn't really bother me that much.
