Hi! I have new pine floors installed this year. I do'nt like them because I didn't stain them any color. They put a sealer and then oil based polyurethane. They get more orangey yellow all the time and I'm not into it. Also I do'nt like how light it is.

A company came by today and made a sample of tinting some poly and putting it on top of the existing finished poly. I like the sample color better than my current floor. But it's poly that is tinted.

My questions are:

1. Will that new tinted topcoat also start to go orange over time?
2. If I currently have floors finished with oil based poly, is it ok if I get water based poly, put the tint in that and put that on top of the current oil based poly?

*We are not going to sand down to the bare wood. No budget for starting over and neighbors will not appreciate the sound of the sanding machine. So my option is tinted poly in order to change the color to one I like.
