The stone used in this project is a natural stone quarried at Butler Quarries (now operated by Vinci Stone Products) in Baltimore County, Maryland.

The stucco exterior is beautiful. I have a 1938 brick home that was not maintained and has been painted with several layers of paint over the years ..along with lots of patch work. There was a sandblasting attempt and it destroyed the outer core of the brick so restoring the brick is not an option. Additionally, it does need to be repointed and tucked in a few areas. Would stucco maintain it structurally and is it possible to do what was done in this picture over brick?

msullivan55: Sandblasting of brick is a practice that has caused significant damage to many buildings, but how to deal with the damage is a question that can't be answered without some analysis (trapping water in the wall could create even more problems). I highly recommend that you contact a professional that can take a look at the condition of your entire wall system, and make appropriate recommendations.

Do you know of anyone in Oceanside California or San Diego California. Everyone I have spoken to told me that sand blasting was the only was to remove the paint and it would be fine even though I read otherwise. I choose to do it reluctantly and yes now my house has been compromised. Contractors out here deal with stucco they don't know much about brick ... at least I have not found the needle in the haystack. So, if you have any suggestions I would happily welcome them. Thank you for your reply
