What stain was used for this deck?

It is absolutely beautiful! Also, if real wood and not composite, what kind of wood was used?

This is real wood. It is Ipe ( ee-pay) a brazilian hardwood. The oil that is used is Penofin (red label) and the stain color is a western red cedar.

So after oiling and staining will it still weather and turn the silver gray that it naturally does

Is there anything on the ground covering it to keep bugs from coming up or is it just grass under the deck....A friend of mine build her porch above a concrete slab to prevent as many insects

If will take a while to break down the oil depending on how much sun exposure. Eventually the deck will look gray again.

Grass doesn't grow under a low deck anymore. At least not in my area even shade type grass. It is recommended to cover the area under the deck with a heavy duty landscape fabric / gravel. We don't recommend plastic because it will create puddles of water after a rain shower what small insects prefer.
