You need the proper mounting block. Like anything you mount in vinyl.

Mount the hose reel on a 38" high post in the ground 2'-3 3/4" from the spigot.

The hose bib is over a cement patio so I can't dig a post.

Guessing the mounting block is the way to go. I'll look into that. Odd because the instructions for the hose reel don't say anything about that. Glad I checked with the community!

We have the 2-wheel cart from this company; it was expensive but is absolutely the best garden reel we have ever had. Nice well built steel. We live on 2 acres. Have had numerous other plastic ones and light metal ones over the years, they all performed poorly and broke in a year or so.

I've had frustrations with the wheeled carts in the past. Long story short, I'd really prefer to mount it. I'm guessing something like this would be sufficient?

That mounting plate appears to be for a lamp, not for something else entirely that is heavier and will regularly have force applied to it.

Misunderstanding: The link I posted was to the wall mount version of the hose reel we use. You can mount the wall version several different ways. We use the wheeled version and were impressed and love the quality. I understand you don't want the wheeled version.

I would think you would need so significant mount in order to put a hose reel on overtop of vinyl siding. with the force applied pulling on the hose and then winding it up.. I think it is asking for trouble. I do not think the plates you linked would be sufficient for more than a couple uses.

Concrete flanges for a post would likely be much better.
