Help with kitchen backsplash ideas...stuck!

This is my first kitchen and major renovation project and I’ve learned that I don’t have a strong style sense ...I love them all, contemporarily, minimal/Scandinavian, coastal. I also have terrible visualization skills!

Now to my question, I’ve fallen in love with the tiles that look hand-made, slightly imperfect edges with light tonal differences - has an “organic” feel to it? They come in both 5x5 and 3x12 tiles. Leaning towards the 3x12, stacked subway arrangement. Debating if 1) the style would fit the rest of the kitchen and 2) if I should go with the white or ivory option? The white would make the perimeter look very clean, ivory would bring in some warmth.

Picture 1: shows a fairly close representation of my kitchen along with some of the fixtures and appliances I’ve purchased.

Picture 2: shows the tiles in both colors although the white in real life look pretty bright white versus what the manufacturer picture shows

Picture 3: alternative tiles I was looking at....white fish scales (whimsical) and elongated hexagon (clean)

Cabinet: inset shaker style, white top & bottom perimeter, dark island (debating between black or a charcoal navy/almost black) dark pantry and white countertops

Additional: black sink, black pendant light, black cooktop, stainless steel fridge and oven, brass cabinet hardware

Thanks in advance!!!

if you do the ivory tile next to a white countertop, it 's going to look dingy. possibly. If you want white, do a white. you have white cabs/white countertops. wouldn't make sense to do an ivory tile.

are you doing Cloe? this is the cloe in the white.

Zellige in a weathered white. this one you could probably use if you want a diff white color

hard to say until you get samples and place them next to the countertop.

what's the rush in choosing a tile? It's best to wait until everything is in, and then choose. this way you can set the samples against what's there, and view them in your own lighting. Ordering a complete batch and waiting, only to find out it's the wrong color, is expensive.

just wait and gather samples.

I love your selections. you may find another tile you like. wait. I waited one year to do my splash! (ok, a little too long. but I couldn't make up my mind)

my kitchen is similar to your selections

You’re absolutely right no rush except for me to want to get everything done in one fell swoop. Already having anxiety about a full household (everyone is working or studying from home right now) here living through the 6 week reno. Thank you for the suggestions... I’m leaning towards the white right now but will see once the other parts are in place. Houzz is a dangerous place...it feeds a little too much inspiration and indecision at least for me :)

We might recommend getting samples of the tiles to see how the colors are in person.
