Open concept layout help

We moved into a new home in June, and cannot figure out where to put our dining table. The problem is that if we center it in the room/in front of our patio doors, it results in there being insufficient room to walk between the table and the refrigerator. In the attached layout, the place the architect drew the fridge isn't where it ended up, it's actually two feet to the left of that-- see the red square. I've drawn the kitchen island and our other furniture in orange. Do you think it's ok to off-center the table from the doors (drawn in purple)? Otherwise we have to have a much smaller table (just a 5' round) centered on the doors, which leaves a lot of the space un-utilized. We don't have a proper dining room, the room labeled that on this plan is actually our kids' playroom, so we'd like to get a pretty big table in this space. Any ideas?

Maybe this will give you a start. Yellow are lights, green is wall decor and blue is the TV

Yes, I think it's ok to off-center the table to accommodate your real life. If you are comfortable allowing your kids to take over a room intended for a different purpose, that tells me your personality would allow for an off-center table. I support your decision to live for your kids; they'll be gone all too soon.

What about a banquette along the left wall? That might give the table a visual anchor other than the doors

I agree with @hermothersdaughter to consider using banquette seating along the left wall to better utilize the space which would shift the table to the left giving more room for the walking space. Could be a built in banquette or consider nice bench seating along the wall. Not sure what you need for seating count, but an oblong table would likely give you the seating needed. If there's lighting for that area, it would likely need to be shifted over then for this set up. Good luck!

Thanks @hermothersdaughter and @bearbev I hadn't considered just completely shifting the space that way, I'll give it a try! Will require me to swag the chandelier quite a bit (it's currently centered on the doors) but that's doable
