I hope you enjoy it! I passed it along to Malcolm Manners, from whom Rose Petals obtained it, along with Ping Dong Yue Ji, though I kept Ping Dong to use for breeding. Sai Zhao Jun is pretty but not as cooperative for my purposes.

Fun to grow unusual roses especially rare ones! Please post pictures of yours to HMF when she blooms. Hardly any pictures there.

Thanks, Kim. I like the crumpled peony look of it in photos. Looks like it's prone to proliferation. Please share any other info you might have on it. Did you import this one directly from China?

@User that's what attracted me to it originally, too and proliferation was one of the things that helped make it not something I wanted to use. No, I didn't import it. These two were shared with me by a friend.

I have PDYJ and WPIRDM aka Chi Long Han Zhu. I'm not sure what you mean by "unusual" - Unusual in flower form/color? Or unusual in the sense of not being commonly grown?

I like "Song of the Stars" with it's unusual coloring.

Also "Father Hugo" - a yellow single, just gorgeous.

Also the Wingthorn rose, interesting spines, I planted mine where the sun will shine through the red.

SZJ is definitely an unusual flower; I've added it to my wish list!

I've been out in the yard pruning and I'm quite sure I've found a few nooks and crannies where a few more roses can be nestled in.

@slumgullion in southern OR Lately I've been buying things that are not commonly grown, but I think in the case of SZJ that it might be a little of both! I'm glad you added it to your wishlist. It seems like it would be a good companion for your other Chinas. The Wingthorn rose looks downright deadly!
