The only thing I will tell you about them is that they aren't washable--the backing comes off so if you read a review saying to wash them before hanging them, DON'T--it will ruin them. I did that, and when the backing came off, I called Overstock.com to let them know, and they replaced them at no charge to me, plus gave me a return label that didn't cost me a dime.

Take the comforter in to your paint dept and match the grey. Gorgeous.

If you hired a contractor, and HE made the mistake, why is HE not researching how to remedy this? My guess would be to sand it down and re-stain.

I'd say the top is where you want the shower head. That way you can enter from the right and adjust the controls without getting wet first.
