Storage & Closet Organizing the Home Design Dilemma

Depth walk in closet shelves

I have had two different designs for my walk in closet as well as used the pax planner. I’m confused as one closer company wants to make my closet shelving 15 with the drawers protruding at 21 depth. The hanging clothes would then stick out.
Another company wants to do everything at 16-18 depth. I would lose some storage in the drawer.
Ikea has everything at 22 deep-drawers, hanging and shelving.

My layout is the first picture.
Do you have a preference for depth of shelving and drawers? All the same? Different ? Etc?

Pax comes in 2 different depths and IMO it depends on what you are storing where. I like Pax shoe storage and I happen to love the whole Pax system .

I have always preferred adjustable open shelving ...with see through bins for storage of smaller items...cabinets and drawers seem to take up useful space in a walk-in closet ...unless you are going the designer route shown above .....easy access and visibility are my priority....

Another consideration is do you have winter clothing that you wish to put away for summer?...do you need an off-season clothing section that has doors?
