cracked kitchen cabinet door

I would like to fix as best I can a crack in a kitchen cabinet door. The crack in the surface has a kind of overbite effect with one side protruding out and I would like to make the crack smooth before attempting anything. Here are two photos. I would so much appreciate and tips and/or advice. Thank you, John.
