I have one. The rotary iron is great. Moving it is not. Ours is wheeled out of a cupboard about 5 feet on concrete. It’s awkward but manageable. Wheeling it across carpet would be substantially more difficult, and a real pain. I would look for an alternative that stores the iron close to point of use.

Thanks for the reply. You confirmed my concern. My husband had an idea. He thought he could make low platform with 4 casters (with brakes) that it could sit on. He would strap the "feet" to the platform so it would be secure. Then I could move it. With your experience with the iron, do you think this would work? My chair height can be adjusted to allow for the extra height. My other option is to store it in a corner of the family room but I would still have to roll it straight out 4-5 feet for ironing. I love Miele products but I find sometimes they miss the mark. In this case, it should not be that hard to come up with a caster that would allow better movement and still provide stability for the weight making the iron properly movable. In reading comments on-line the difficulty moving it is a recurring complaint.

It’s an awkward appliance to move. The solution of castors might help, but if you can sew or find someone who can, perhaps an attractive cover for the appliance that keeps it closer to its point of use would make you more comfortable storing it nearby. Or if you are really committed, I guess you could keep it in your laundry room but renovate it so it is a more pleasant place to be. I just can’t envision moving it around that much, even with new castors. If you put a couch on castors, would you want to lug it around from place to place in your living room on a regular basis? That’s how it feels to me. Something that CAN be moved, but you just dont want to be Moving it too much.

I really appreciate your follow up comments. It is a great idea to make a cover for it and keep it in a corner of the family room. I am an experienced seamstress but I didn't think of making a cover - duh! That is a good solution and if I want to I can still try the caster idea. It is good to have a couple of ideas. Renovating my laundry room isn't really an option - although it is a nice laundry room, I can't imagine any renovation that would want to make me spend hours in it ironing each month.

Thanks for your response. The new steam ironing system looks pretty great but I really want the rotary iron. I love linens so I have a lot of bed and table linens that I currently iron with a hand iron which is a lot of work. I don't think the fashion master will do as good a job on large linens and pieces of fabric as the mangle.

I also have the ironer from Miele. Mine is about 15 years now, bought lightly used, love it. Started out haveing it in the diningarea of the kitchen because of tv but now have tv in laundryroom to.

It is kind of hard to move, easyer when folded, mine came with a clothcover, you just have to stop, then turn it and go further, if carpet is deeper pile it wont go but short and hard will go but abit of work. Just know that the fabric can not be dry when useing the ironer, needs to be damp either from dryer or sprayed and leave for an hour the iron. If you have the miele dryer you will find the right setting but I find it to be abit to wet so set it to the one above.

I am in Sweden and here you can buy a miele ironer with steam, when this one needs replaceing I will get that one because I dont dry everything in the dryer and in the summer I dry bedlinnens outside and it is alot of work to sprey al that before ironing.

How do you store the linens? Don’t they get fold marks when stored?...i have seen closets with rods that linens can be hung on...perhaps a combo of the machine and linens could be stored together in a closet built in the room you choose..?...my first thought was a tv in the laundry room🤷🏼‍♀️

TV in the laundry room sounds great - sigh. I may break down and iron in the laundry room anyway since moving it seems like a hassle. I have a number of good options to try so I have ordered it. Got the current 10% off promotion - it is still crazy expensive but I would never find a used one where I live. Appreciate all the suggestions/comments.
