I have no idea what you are planning IMO the best spot for an addition with a garage is to do the addition above the garage Do you have some drawings to explain what you are planning. You will also need an architect IMO to make this look seamless.

Unfortunately that isn’t an option based on neighborhood and city requirements.

Adding a side entry garage to the right of the garage

This is a very confusing post. Are you adding another garage or living space?

We are adding a side entry garage to the left of our current garage. I’m sorry for the confusion.
Ideally, I would like to have a “fake” garage door in the front (aesthetics) and a usable side garage door.
It might be a hard concept to image. We are adding a side entry garage next to our front facing garage.

That would be strange, to add a side entry to that configuration of front entry. Impervious surface limitations? Even stranger to put a false overhead door on the front facade. Note an 18' deep (out-to-out) garage is pretty useless. Better to add a single tandem stall right next to the garage and utilize the existing driveway.
