Surf Powder? (modern edition)

Hi all, wanted to get your thoughts and opinions on Surf Powder that is sold today. If you had any experience with it, please tell me your personal opinion on the scent, consistency, performance, etc.

lol Mimi. Yes! We used liquid Tide for quite a few years in our FLers. The warm temp was probably 80F if that warm and the 'hot' temp probably didn't get above 111F, so both FL washers got gunky. I didn't know all of you in those years and couldn't figure why if I wash in warm and hot and use Tide this kept happening to our washers. I did learn about Borax and Oxyclean on my own, and used them and used powder detergents for a few years, did a clean machine cycle every two weeks, et al...but it was hopeless. By the time I found this site I already got a different washer but was still using liquid/pods Tide and couldn't figure out why the laundry was cleaner and wasn't moldy smelling anymore, but I still struggled with funk in fam's laundry. I learned a lot here! MamaP was a laundry teacher. rip

I used to LOVE the Surf Sparkling Ocean scent years ago when I still had a traditional toploader. At that time it also came in liquid format. I stopped using it when I switched to a frontloader and am disappointed these days that the powder doesn't appear to be HE compatible.

Yeah I remember when Surf had a partnership with All back in the late 90s early 2000s (maybe even sooner than that) when they had the liquid form. I think at that time they were owned by Unilever here in the States. I've recently been getting more into powders specifically for my towels and have been curious about multiple brands I could use in place of Tide. I have nothing against Tide, I just don't like the price tag lol.

It was so long ago, like 1980s, 1990s perhaps?, that I don't have much memory of it, but I know I did use it at least for a few boxes. It must not have been remarkable, is my guess, as I didn't go back to it when I had the extra buck fifty to buy a higher end powder. It must have been a when I was trying to make every penny stretch as I am fussy about what detergent I use. Wish I had more memories/thoughts on it for you!

PS I used to be a normal person in regards to laundry. It wasn't until detergents lost their phosphates, then I switched to our crummy front loaders for 12 years and all our clean laundry was stinky and beyond hope for years haha. So, I didn't think much about laundry or washers or detergents until those two events happened. I just did the laundry when it needed to be done and I went on with the rest of my life :^) So, yea, not too many memories of Surf for you. Sorry.
