I had it in a shady spot....wasn't too impressed with it. Moved it to a pot in a sunny spot; much better.

Great rose -- constantly blooming in full sun in my PNW zone 8B garden. I can't speak to its habit or eventual size because mine is young and shoehorned into a space too small for it. I love bringing in the cut blooms because of their lovely wafting perfume.

PS here it is blooming in my garden on January 1st. Almost everything else is dormant.

I lived in Burns , a small small town outside of Franklin? That was the next closest town people hear of .

I miss it so so much . I was lucky enough to live on the edge of a black angus cattle farm . It was so beautiful and I loved it more than anything!

Mine is about 4 ft.

I think it's very beautiful but i have never had a really good plant going of it. Not the plant's fault I think...I just stuck it in challenging spots. It's a healthy thing.

@Lilyfinch z9a Murrieta Ca Ahh how beautiful! I bet it was an interesting learning curve going from zone 7 to 9 but I am sure your current garden is just stunning. I am in Brooklyn now, and though the zones are the same as Tennessee, the state of the soil here is a totally different kettle of fish. I ended up having to remove 6 inches of top soil and bring in new. @Sheila z8a Rogue Valley OR wow she's just COVERED with flowers! Thanks again everyone!

I love Perle d"Or. I have one which has attained about 4 feet in, say 5 years in partial sun (from very tall street trees). It is healthy and never needs pruning - grows in an upright, sort of vase shape.

Below is a pic of a mature (at least 30 years old - that is how long I have seen it) one growing in full sun a few blocks away from us. I think this represents how big a mature one will get - I don't think it has ever been pruned.

It's proven not hardy enough as far north as I am, and I am thinking of potting mine up because it's dwindling in the ground.

That being said...

I love the charming little blooms with their perfect little tea rose buds and open blooms with strappy little petals. A sweet scent which carries well on humid air. Beautiful apricot fading to off-white colour.

I highly recommend it for warmer areas.

Sweetly fragrant and well armed. Here in the Bay Area zone 9b (almost 10) it will grow to be 7 feet tall and 8 feet wide if let to grow unchecked. I tried it one time. In a four season climate it would be much smaller.
