I'm installing a sump pump in my crawl space. I'm doing a crawl space encapsulation, so it's important for me to find a basin with a lid that can seal real well. I'm debating on which basin to get and hoping someone here might have some advice.

The problem I have is that my crawlspace opening is only 18" x 32". It has a metal frame door and if I remove the metal frame, I can get the opening to 22" x 34". However, I'd have to remove the door/frame and replace my crawlspace door. So I'd like to avoid it if possible.

However, I'm concerned about the size of it. It's a bit smaller so I'm worried that the pump will be running a lot more.

Think I should just go with the smaller one? Would it be a good idea to put some holes in the bottom of the basin? I'd plan to put plenty of gravel on the sides and below the basin so that water is being held in a larger area and that would hopefully make the pump run less.
