Garden in snow Jan 27 2021

We only got about 3" of snow yesterday - much less that the forecast and much less than I read about the midwest of the US getting! We have had very little snow so far this winter - most lawns were still green. Since I can't walk on snowy roads, the lack of snow has been good for me - but the lack of snow is not good for the garden! There is more snow in the forecast for Sunday so this may be the start of more appropriately snowy winter weather.... The garden in snow and sunshine is not bad-looking I think. I took these pictures this morning:

From the dining room window:

The euonymus on the iron arbour is mostly filled in on the front (but the sides and back have a ways to go yet). It looks close to what I hoped for as an evergreen feature in the snow:

We like the look of the Chinese wisteria at any time of the year, including in the snow. Fingers crossed here for a decent flower show in May.... It has been a few years since the winter has been mild enough for flowerbuds to survive the winter, although secondary summer bloom has been good each year... A closer view of it today:

Well, we got 10” over the weekend and, yes, more is due on Thursday.

Wow, 7.3 inches! We got about 1.5 - 2 inches. And it must be still fairly warm because the roads were amazingly clear this morning. Yes, the plows came by but still, very clear. And wet and heavy to shovel! But good for the garden!

Over the last few days about 5-6 inches. This is when I appreciate the few conifers I have. They look so pretty with snow on them. woodyoak, your arbor does look good in the snow.

Your garden always looks great in any season. Maybe 5" of light fluffy stuff but last week we had about 6-7" of really heavy snow. Much easier to shovel the fluffy stuff! We have about 1 1/2' so far.

We got so little that it has already disappeared, two days later, sublimating into our dry but below freezing air except where it is in full shade in the woods. Maybe an inch?

NHBabs - our snow, while not much, has hung around - unlike the bits of snow we got earlier in the month which, like yours, disappeared quickly. Since I need the road clear of snow to be able to walk outdoors, I have been stuck inside for the past few days and am getting antsy! :-). But I’m very happy that I don’t have the snow that preen.all has! Mind you, come Spring I’ll undoubtedly be lamenting the lack of snowmelt to provide moisture to get the plants off to a good start.....

Wow tj! We got nothing! We could see storm clouds on the weather radar but they seemed to get stuck against the Niagara Escarpment so all the snow must have fallen to the west of that because we didn’t even get flurries. Yesterday afternoon was VERY windy though so that kept us indoors for the afternoon.
