I have a quote from view rail as well. Had a few bumps getting the design right but it seems to be getting close. Not many diy options that I am finding online that have stainless posts. Only stainless rods or cable. I will post if I find something. In addition, when I compare the component by component pricing, they are a little higher but not significant. I did find an exterior supplies but they just do flat surfaces like a deck and not stairs. HD carries them. They said that they will be out with a stair product in March or so when I contacted them.

To close this loop as far as a supplier goes. Got a bid from Viewrail and AGS. Both were about $4500. Went with cheapstairparts.com which is owned by House of Forging. $1,200. Based out of Houston TX. I do not have the stainless parts yet but they get good reviews and their online tools and installation information were actually much better. Fingers crossed.

I just ordered a rod system from view rail. AGS was much more expensive. Waiting for delivery. Cheap Stair Parts doesn't have rod system.

I went with the square rods. I am sure that ViewRail with have a very nice product. It was just too expensive for this particular application. Good luck. Let me know how you like it.

How do you replace a rod if it bends on rod type railing?

Unfortunately, I cannot imagine that there is a simple method to do this. As someone who built mine, I think that you would need to disassemble and remove the bent rod. Where this could get tricky is that some applications, have you glue the bars in place so that they do not rattle. Obviously, not sure how yours was built. Take the old one out, measure and replace with a new bar but to size. Sounds so easy but it usually is not. I hope that the fix turns out well.

on the product that we used (Axis square post stainless series) the bars go through a holder which attaches to the post. everything is tightened down with teeny tiny screws. the directions suggest that you glue them in but we have not gotten to that yet as we have been waiting for parts to finish. The supply chain issues have put the work drastically behind schedule. cheapstairparts.com has excellent documentation online. you may want to take a look at the directions and parts lists on there before you order.
