I don't have the answer to your question, but as an owner of very dark cabinetry I wanted to recommend to go with an easy to clean style :)

you will probably need to go to a analine dye first then stain and then finish.

A more expensive and experienced cabinet maker is the foundation to a dark stained wood look that isn’t blotchy.

Alder takes stain well and intended color Esp in the browns stays quite true. Is the darkest brown stain not dark enough? That is an ebonIzed treatment - couple ways to do it . Find an experienced wood worker/ finisher that has done it. It’s simple actually but there is technique....... seems like the deepest richest brown stain would be quite dark but not such a wash into black.

What about the BM solid exterior stain? I was told it can be used on interior surfaces with a sealer. I sampled a few colors on white oak & it’s beautiful - it’s solid like a paint, but the grain shows through.
