If that dosing works for you, then yes, it should be fairly comparable. However, the best rule of thumb is to have a very small amount of visible suds near the bottom of the basket during the wash period, and adjust accordingly.

When adding boosters such as Biz or Borax, I personally never use more than about half the amount of detergent I am using. Otherwise you just are going to have a sudsy mess and require more rinsing.

If you haven't heard of, or tried STPP, a majority of us here highly recommend it! That would be a great booster if you do not have a water softener or live where water hardness is not the best.

Yes I use STPP. I use 1 tblspn per load. I do not have a water softener but I don’t have hard water. My water is at the very top range of soft before being considered hard. Is using STPP with Biz or Borax redundant?

No. Biz is primarily for added enzymes. It also contains some surfactants and probably some oxy. It has no more water-conditioning capability than detergents. Borax has an effect, although probably less efficient at it than STPP.
