Specifically curious -

How would you paint the doors? Is there anything that you could do to the accordion door in particular?

What about the light fixtures?

I think that once you get your furniture in it, that you won't need to do anything. I love the little study and the dressing room and closets are great.

I Like it - Some furniture, artwork and drapes to warm it up is all you need.

What a gorgeous apartment! The floors are lovely. I think taking down the mirror over the fireplace (but I agree, the peacocks in the bedroom are kind of fab) and replacing some of the fans/light fixtures would de-granny it. Floor to ceiling drapes would hide the wood between the windows and also give it a luxe feel. A fresh coat of bright white paint would maximize the light and make it feel modern--or something moody and Victorian would also look great with some bold mid-century fixtures and clean-lined furniture.

IMO changing the lighting would be a huge improvement I find it is a bit odd to see MCM and classic stuff all mixed up. That one door with the very ornate trim is a bit of a puzzle. I think I woiuld change the lighting to all more modern leave the wood alone including the doors add your furniture and then see what else you need. I agree a caot of white paint is probably the best choice. I would like to see some of your stuff to really comment on anything else.

Since the trim cannot be painted, I would not paint the doors. If they bother you now, they won't once your things are in place.

If the ceiling tile pattern bothers you, they make a lightweight sheetrock/drywall finish tile now. We replaced ones like you have with them in our basement and it made a huge difference. Paint the tracks white so they disappear.

I would leave the mirror over the FP and just prop a large piece of art in front of it, or even layer since it's a large area. You can semi-secure it to the mirror with on of the adhesive strips with hooks.

What an opportunity for you. That bedroom with fireplace and gorgeous windows is so special. Love the peacocks. You could replace the bifold doors with drapery panels. Velvet comes to mind. Just take them off their tracks and store them in a closet or basement space if available. Agree that you should fully decorate before deciding to paint the doors. Finding the right color of wall paint can make you see the doors and woodwork in a different light, so to speak. New globes on overhead lighting might improve their appearance; although it could be fun picking out new ones if that’s in the budget. New flooring in the study would be nice.
