Mexican Ace powder is formulated for hard (!!) water in Mexico and Central/South America. We used to have a beach house in Baja California and nothing would clean while there unless we used giant sized doses and that was not too effective either. Anyway, the dosing instructions you see on the package are meant for conditions in those areas. I don't know where your location is, but if you are in the US, you will need to cut the dosage way down. If you are south of our border, you can experiment to find what actually cleans without causing a suds mess. The suds suppressors are not included, usually in Latin detergent formulations.

Great info, thanks! I am south of the border currently in Playa del Carmen near Cancun. Where would you start experimenting? 4 tbsp? How do you determine whether it's cleaning well? The smell and the removal of stains?

I've not been to Cancun area, so I'm not familiar with their water conditions. Sorry. But, try figuring out what half a dose would be and use that. If you still have dirt, grime, odors, then you'll need to increase the dose. SQ washing machines are good at generating suds. Hopefully you are draining into a laundry sink or to the outside.
