No one ever came on this site to complain that their new kitchen looked too boring, but you'll find LOTS of issues with too busy back splashes. You have a 4x8 tile so it's already different, as well as counters with some veining and maybe texture on your floors? Go with the standard brick pattern, or a more modern stacked pattern if that works with your space, with grout in the same color. You can keep the kitchen from looking "boring" with the right hardware, lighting, or even artwork.

I especially like the brick pattern since your nearby floor tiles are on an angle. And your glass cupboards will add lots of textures and colors. Love the plate in your last photo. My 2 boys made the exact same ones, about 20 years ago!
