I like to paint my ceilings a different color than the walls. Hardly ever white, though.

I like ceilings same as wall color. However, I dont think they will look as well with the crown mouldings as a white ceiling would look.

The ceilings will appear darker than the walls by quite a bit and will no longer reflect the light you are currently seeing.

If you paint them the color of the walls, cut the formula by 50% so they appear to be the very same color.

I usually cut the wall color if it is a bit more saturated for sure . I think though it is always good to post pics of the space you are talking about.

We rarely have a customer who wants white ceilings and when we do , we try to encourage them to select a off white. Most of our customers are very happy with same wall color on the ceiling , or reducing the wall color 50% for the ceilings. The color of the walls helps determine best path for ceiling color. A lighter ceiling will visually give the room more height; a darker ceiling will visually give the room less height. Alligators, giraffes, bears and snakes painted on the ceiling (like the previous owner painted on the bedroom ceiling in the first house I owned) gives the room a whimsical feel.
