More appropriately posted in the Conifers or Container Gardening forums. But you should realize some new sprouting by back budding lightly in spring as new growth becomes apparent.

I am more concerned about a need to repot, refresh the potting media and do some judicious root pruning. That is likely affecting growth more than anything else. Do you ever fertilize?

I was told that it was a very slow grower, so I planted it in a fairly decent size pot. I do fertilize once a month starting spring through fall. It is not rootbound. It just grew so shaggy and leggy that looks scary. I will try posting some photos.

If it is leggy and thin on needles, it needs more sun than it is getting.

Are you growing it outdoors (if so, where?) and if you’re trying to grow it indoors that would explain much.

I am growing it outdoors and gets more than 12 hours of sun. The needles are not thin. But they are at the end of very long branches and nothing on the inside part.

If all the needles are at the end of long branches, the tree is thin and low on needles. You said it is leggy and not dense at all. That does not describe full sun growing conditions. A picture or more info about zone and the actual growing conditions is needed for a good diagnosis of the problem.

I will try posting a picture soon. But for general info, I live in Madrid Spain. And we have 363 days of full sun a year. It's in the terrace always. Even when it's cold. Hopefully by tomorrow I will try posting the picture as soon as I figure out how to do it.

No. It's all open, but the pot is near a corner. But gets tons of full sun from
