Struggling with furniture arrangement.

Struggling with crowded,

furniture arrangement in a tiny living room/ open concept. I think my furniture is too large but cannot replace it all. The recliner seems to be in the way no matter where I put it. The color of furniture is all the basically all the same. Which parts can I change without breaking the bank.

I think you hit the nail on the head when you said "crowded". What furniture pieces do you absolutely need? You need a coffee table AND and an ottoman? You need the table behind the chair and the dresser and the other tables? I'd start there. :-)

Hard to tell where the traffic paths need to be through the room. Can you stand in the middle of the room and take a picture of the area on both sides of the island? I want to see what's behind each of the 2 big chairs. Does the one farther from the window match your sofa?

I suggest that you take all the tables (end, coffee) and chests out of the room. Take out the ottoman. See where you can arrange the 3 seating pieces and go from there.

Your furniture placement is good and seems to work well for the function of the space. A more streamlined/smaller recliner would help. But if you can't replace current recliner, consider putting a white/light colored slipcover over it. That would make the recliner visually disappear a bit.

Or alternatively, you could drape a white/light colored throw over the recliner. Another option could also be a light blue. Your walls look like they may be a blue or blue grey and it looks like you have a bit of light blue accent in the room.

For no cost, you can just remove the recliner (maybe to a bedroom?) and replace it with the smaller chair. After that, I would remove the shelving and mount the tv flat on the wall across from the sofa with a low console underneath. It would be a better height for viewing, and it wouldn't be crowding the drapes. You would then have the option to keep your corner piece or replace it with the recliner in the corner if you wanted more seating.
