Art placement/ideas & Rug

Hello,
We are in the process of decorating our bedroom but need ideas on art for the walls, especially above the bed.
We have two pieces of art that we love but every example that I see has the art placed vertically above the king-sized bed. What can we add to make it work? We do have an empty frame that is the same size that we can place vertically in the middle but not sure what to put in it?
What other types of art can we add? We like metal art, ethnic art, wood, etc.
We want to add art to the other walls also and wooden blinds with drapes in the corner window and a nice contemporary/modern rug.

Attached are pictures. The bedding would be most likely black or gray with gold or silver tones. No floral print or anything busy.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

There are a number of ways to place wall decor over your bed. See below. Everything is horizontal, so I'm not sure where you have seen vertical.

Thank you Beverly I love all the ideas you have and the rugs too. Yes I agree the lamps are small (hubby had bought them lol)
I think I was hung up on the fact that we have the two pieces that we want above the bed and all the two piece art we saw were vertical ..our pictures are horizontal for the frame size we have. So it would be okay then to have them side by side with the 3/4 inch space in between?

By vertical I mean picture going up and down

Sure......place them side by side provided they do not extend past the headboard
