Cactus Tip Rot?

last modified: 5 years ago

Hello,

Ive had a large 6 ft cereus peruvius cactus for about a year now. Today I noticed that one of the tips started to show black rot. Im in Texas, and we had a 3 day power outage last week that probably caused my house to get very cold. I watered it one time in early February and I haven't in 2-3 months prior. It is potted with Al's gritty mix. It is next to a large window and I use a plant light on it too. What could have caused this? The cold or a fungal infection or overwatering? I see on it there is these small spots. I removed the black rot and cut 2 inches below it with a sterilized scissors.
