Dead space - HELP!

I have been trying since August to get new furniture for the house we moved into, but the open floor plan is so awkward! On top of that, there’s this dead space between the living room and dining area that becomes to narrow to extend any furniture arrangement into without having to squeeze by when you’re walking through. I also don’t want to put anything against the windows as we have a beautiful view out back. Please let me know how you would setup this living area and what you would do with the dead space! Furniture in drawings is what’s in place right now - looking to replace couch and area rug with multiple seating option arrangement; 6-person dining and TV are staying (the TV placement is set because that’s where all the connections are). The realty pictures make it look wider than it is, but the rendered 3D shows reference of the couch size to that dead space and why pushing furniture back into it isn’t feasible. Appreciate anyone’s help and insight! In the meantime, we listen to our echoes bounce of the walls of this open space 😆

Ashley - I’m wondering if you are not getting comments because this is a really odd space! But it is also very attractive - the floors and color of walls make a wonderful backdrop for your furnishings. I have a suggestion IF you would like to use the space for an additional function. Rotate the dining table so that its length is running in the same direction as the long axis of your living and dining room. Then move it toward your living room area into the “dead space.” The 12’ width is plenty big enough for the width of the table and chairs on both side. Then take the area shown on the diagram as the dining space and use it for a new function. The obvious choice would be an office area or a space for a hobby. I do family genealogy work and could imagine several cabinets - all with doors to keep the area neat - a small desk for a computer, and some framed pictures of ancestors on the wall. A hobby related to music or art could also be accommodated.

Consider another possibility. Get a round 66" dining table and float it in the dead space, between the bathroom and the exterior wall, removing your triple pendants and re-wiring for a chandelier above the table. Use the area by the entry for a social/conversational area grouping four chairs around a coffee table or hassock. Use the present dining area as your family gathering/TV space. Put TV right of the double window and float sofa perpendicular to the slider.

If you buy a reversible chaise sofa, you'll have the option of switching the chaise from right to left when you want to.

I think i would put floor to ceiling open shelving on the wall between the coat closet and the dining room.

how many people watch tv at the same time? Any appeal to 2 massive square lounge chairs and 2 other swivel chairs, on a large round rug?

if i decided i wanted a sofa, i think I would get an extra long onr, possbly with 2 chaises and put one or more console tables behind it.

I would put lots of tall plants in that room and fun things like giant poufs.

    You have a beautiful home.

The "dead space" could be put to work with a coffee/liquor bar on the wall by the kitchen and a buffet on the opposite wall with great art above. The buffet/sideboard can be used to store placemats, candles, other items for dining, board games, or whatever. The bar is from Wayfair. There are lots of variations of both depending on your taste.
