We currently have a microwave hood, and are doing a mini kitchen remodel, reusing and painting much of the existing kitchen cabinetry. The conundrum is whether to keep the existing placement including a microwave hood, or move the microwave above the double oven as I've seen in a few pictures on Houzz, losing a drawer below the double ovens, half of the cabinet currently above the ovens, and the cabinets above the microwave hood (which is currently recirculating). Is it too much of a design faux pas to install an over the cooktop microwave hood in a single family house? Curious to hear other thoughts as the design really works in our kitchen. Cost is not an issue as we're already reworking the cabinetry near the double ovens to accommodate a 30" v the existing 27".
