The wood looks like the typical natural red oak that's been used forever (and still gets used because it's good just about everywhere). The trim on the hood and shelves is also oak.

The cabinets are just...um...idunno. Matte black. :)

use care w black cabs. Note how the walls are open with some shelving but mostly white tile. do you have such a plan? are you willing to omit wall cabinets? ....if you want wall cabinets [most people do ] ... all black might best be changed for a different wall color cabinet.....and what would that be ? ....is your space appropriate then for a two tone kitchen? Its wise to post a picture of the space now or at least a diagram of some sort ....

herbflavor, are you saying black wall cabinets will be too much for the space? I can see that. That is shared by the TV and stove will be taken down and the kitchen would be lengthened towards the right of the fridge, towards the back wall. I am thinking of keeping the island but moving towards the that backdown as well.

OK...so you are gutting the kitchen to get rid of the faux wall that has the stove and the microwave. You are opening up the space to create an open living plan.

OK...that means you will need new lighting, new wall colour (paint...cause the damage = more than just a quick paint patch), new carpets/new floors and you will need electrical and plumbing dealt with.

What is your budget for this kitchen gut job? The 'average' kitchen renovation (when we work with electrical and plumbing being moved and walls being taken down) is $50K. That was the average when I started posting on Houzz in 2012.

I believe those cabinets in your inspiration photo are a 'blue-black'. The walls are a VERY CRISP white (crisp means moving towards blue). The counter tops are 2 different stones. Both are a 'marble mimic'. They can be found (or a version thereof) at any stone yard or through a man-made product such as Corian or Silestone. If you are close to an Ikea, you can find both the cabinets (or a colour very close) and the counter tops as well. Ikea sells the counter tops ONLY in-store purchases. They cannot be ordered over the internet.

You can tone down the 'black' part and work with a strong navy blue. It is easier to live with and VERY handsome.

The flooring is the easiest part: it is ALMOST identical to what you have in the kitchen right now. Simply take the sample of your existing floor in with you...and find something that is a snick lighter (but still a handsome 'natural' tone). No need for fancy colours on the floor.

The blue of the cupboards and the natural wood yellows go VERY well together. You just need to get rid of the yellow on the walls....which is why you need to paint the space anyway.

SJ thank you for your input. I plan on doing all/most of the work myself and already planned on new paint and flooring. I am trying to track down sourcing everything. I plan on going to a couple of local flooring and kitchen stores once I have finally closed on the house. I didn't think about IKEA....I will have to check that out!

The floor and cabinets don't seem to be unique in any way. I'm not saying it doesn't look nice, but you can "source" these anywhere. And I agree that, since your photo suggests you like clean lines, Ikea is a good place to start for the cabinets.

What about the plumbing and the electrical?? You have both in the false walls.
