Do you find it inconvenient that doors open onto counters?

It means you can’t leave anything on that expanse. It’s fine if you are pulling out the mixer to use. But what if you just need something off the shelves? Same problem as butler pantry drawers that pull out over the countertop.

Good question - otoh, clutter would be less likely to gather in front of those doors, and when they're open, that bit of counter would be used for tasks specific to what is stored there - a work station.
