@Juli H not yet. We haven't started the reno yet. Waiting on my final plans from the architect and then on to permits. Dekton Rem is still my first choice.

I just got my sample. It looks so white online and so beige in real life so won't work for me.

Yeah, I don't want white white so it works for me. I love the way it feels as well.

@PatriciaColwell, some ppl don’t care for the upkeep of marble/quartzite the unhygienic properties, the inevitable patina from even mild use as well as - in many areas- hard water staining. Sometimes a more white & less dotty granite is unavailable in certain markets.I also love the depth of genuine stone and have genuine marble on bathroom floors, trim vanities, dining & coffee tables. Keeping them looking decent is a lot of work.

@sd1962 Mine are Dekton Taga. I’ve had it seven months and could not be happier. No problems at all! No scratches, chips or stains. Low maintenance.

I can comment on Dekton from experience. After minimal use-8 weeks post install- and great care in a household of 3 adults, an unsightly CRACK appeared in one area. The company is coming next week to repłace. We are hyper cautious and no chipping has occurred. . I’ll attach a picture. Good luck, and I agree Dekton is unique and beautiful.

I am/was also set on Dekton Rem but am now considering alternatives as it is only available in 2cm and have heard similar things about chipping. The closest I've come across is Ceasarstone 5111H. It's every so slightly more yellow, and while it's honed, it doesn't quite have the same softness and dimensional quality as the Dekton Rem. But it does come in 3cm and our fabricator feels it's a better product. Such a tough decision.

Go with the Dekton. As long as your fabricator is experienced as per Joseph Corlett’s instruction, you’ll be very pleased.

Our Dekton Bromo is spectacular.

@Helen Chang I actually prefer a thinner counter because my vibe is more modern. Dekton does make me nervous, but I can not find any other counter that makes me feel the way Dekton Rem does. I have a sample, and I love touching it. I'm also a messy kitchen person, and I quite frequently cut directly on my counter ( my knives hate me). I need the non staining, non scratching type of material. My kitchen is south facing and tons of windows, I worry about quartz yellowing, but I'm not sure if that's a valid worry.

I have a 48” wide under-mount sink opening w/2cm Dekton all around. Lots of banging around with pots/pans, etc., and nothing close to a chip.

It truly is a wonderful product. The non-porosity is amazing.

I have decided to get Statuario Venato quartz from Zenith. After all my research i found Quarrz doesn't chip like Dekton and if it does we can fix it but dekon not. I have to be very caution about the stain though.

@Melanie F Great point about the more modern look. Our kitchen leans that way as well. We were told by our fabricator and architect that we would need extra support for our island counter with 16" overhang with 2cm. Which isn't a huge deal, but something we are considering (vs no extra support for 3cm). We're west facing so not as much direct sun throughout the day but the fact that caesarstone 5111H is already a tiny bit yellower than the Dekton Rem makes me very nervous! I was hoping it might fade lighter haha, so good to know that yellowing is possibility! We have Dekton in our current apartment (it's black matte, not sure the exact color) and it's held up well over the last 15 months and we regularly set cast iron pans on it. That said, the countertop at our fabricator's shop is also Dekton, not Rem but similar light with dark veining. Not sure how long it's been there or how they care for it, but it looks very worn. Our dekton is 7 years and looks the same as day it was installed. i don’t understand fuss about chipping. our painted cabs have a lot of chips from banging heavy metal things into them so i promise you we are not careful. painted cabs were my mistake!!!

@Brittany Metz I wish I could give you my experience with Dekton, but the permit process where I live currently takes FOREVER. We haven't even started the renos. But Dekton Rem is still at the top of my list.

Questions: 1. Lharpie - can you share the Dekton pattern that you have had such good experience with? I also love Dekton Rem or something similar with a very white background and gray line going through it. 2. If I use an authorized dealer and one of the edges that Dekton requires will I avoid chips, even around an Undermount sink? 3. Home Depot offers to edges and one of them is a cool looking “shark edge.” But it looks mighty thin on the edge, and I’m thinking in light of all the comments on shipping, and also the diagram above, does not show the shark edge as being one of the options covered by Dekton warranty. So it is confusing as to why a big operation like Home Depot would offer it. Any thoughts?thank you.

Dekton is great. I've specified it many times, but it requires a great, certified fabricator. But if you're hesitant to use it, go with their sister company, Silestone, and get Ethereal Dusk. I just used the same quartz material in my master bath remodel in the sueded finish. Looks fantastic.

I want shine and I was told deck time will hold the shine better than anything. Is this accurate?

Thanks for the recommendation of ethereal dusk, I think it might be too blue in the veining, but ethereal glow looks nice too.

You should pick up samples. Don't go by what you see on your computer monitor.

Still gorgeous. It’s absolutely amazing; not a ding or scratch anywhere…and I've dropped an iron skillet on the sink opening edge more than once 😱.

I love to ”show it off” by taking a dinner fork to it and scraping hard back and forth for various guests. It’s gloriously indestructible.

Expensive, but the best decision we could have made. LOVE it!

Hi! Yes, we went with Dekton Rem. A few notes after having it for ~9months.

• We went with an eased edge all around with a waterfall (mitered) on the sides of our island. It looks great from a far and we get lots of compliments. I REALLY wish we had gone with a small beveled edge all around instead. The eased edge makes it very obvious that there's porcelain layer especially when the veining is present at the edge. All of the samples we have have a very small beveled edge. So unless going with a mitered edge all around, I'd say go beveled like the sample.
• The quality has been solid. No staining, no chips. I will say that with the matte texture, dirt can collect in the tiny grooves and it can look a little linoleum-ish. It's easily cleaned with some Bon-ami type abrasive cleaner.
• This is purely my experience and preference but I kind of wish we had gone with the matte ceaserstone instead. My kitchen at work is a similar ceaserstone and it just looks/feels more like a solid piece of stone with veining running through as it has a nice subtle translucency to it versus white with a layer of porcelain.

I am not understanding how a beveled edge would remove less of the "picture" than an eased edge does.

Helen really appreciate you taking the time to give me your experience. I will be going with all white on the perimeter and the quartzite and the island. Having said that, I agree with Joseph (the best pro and houzz in my opinion) that I’m not quite understanding why the edging you mentioned might make a difference. Mine will be polished so perhaps it won’t matter but I don’t know if polished makes a difference either. I went to a Home show today and I saw an edge that I think was really cool but I don’t know if this would have its own problems and I’m just not anticipating. I will try to post a picture but I’m relatively new at this technology. Mine will be all white, so I don’t think the line will bother me and I like that it gives it a thicker profile. I welcome thoughts from anyone.

@Melanie F - From readinf this thread, it sounds like you and I have common tastes. I am currently debating between Dekton Rem + a couple Laminam options. The Dekton is winning, based on colour tone alone - Laminam is also a bulletproof option, and their soft touch finish is incredible.

We were set on using Caesarstone Fresh Concrete, until we started reading people’s experiences here. Also, my sister had it installed in their home 3 years ago and said she regrets it every day - chips around the sink; fingerprints and water marks are difficult to clean off! (They are a no kid household, and are the most OCD clean people I’ve ever met)

I’d encourage you to do some Googling about Caesarstone experiences.

Melanie F. I am interested to know what you ended up using? I am in the same position. The fabricator said the dark to light tone on the slab is noticeable when you start adding waterfalls and they don’t match. Looking for an alternative. Thanks!

I wish I could give you my experience but we haven't even started. The permit process where we live was ridiculously long, and we need good weather for roof removal so now it's looking like it won't start until spring 😥. Just a lot of delays.

But, Dekton Rem is still my first choice.

I know this is an older thread, but I have some serious concerns with the Dekton REM color and need HELP!
Install was recently finished and I have a huge variation in the base color everywhere there is a 90 degree angle…I’m honestly speechless. It looks like they used different stones, the color is very off, and this was a very large project..I believe 8 slabs were used. I’m waiting for the fabricator/owner to come out and explain what happened..so far I’m very upset…has anyone else had this problem with the color REM from dekton?..even with the light off you can see such a drastic color difference…

@bellraats I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you. We haven't even started our project yet. Please keep me updated on what your fabricator has to say about it. I'm still very much leaning towards Dekton Rem but those photos are concerning.

So the Owner of the fabrication store came out today, he needs to follow up with Consentino regarding the color variation in the Delton REM color. He was told this color has different “shades” to it, but this is unacceptable and ridiculous…this color should be discontinued! He does not think they can remove the 3 slabs that have the noticeable color variations as he thinks it will damaged all the areas around it. We literally may have to completely demo everything again and start all over…I just want to vomit, this is so overwhelming. I now have to wait in limbo to hear what Consentino says to the “certified” Delton fabricator…such a nightmare

@bellraats this sounds horrible. I’m so sorry you are had this experience. What ended up happening? I am just about ready to pull the trigger on Delton REM. I am looking for a good coordinating tile.
