Hi Sam, I've ordered roses from them almost every year. They send good quality plants, haven't had any shipping/customer service issues. Last year I ordered the Pretty Polly roses, they've been outstanding here.

But...you note the reviews on Garden Watchdog, so WHY would you order when there are other places?

Because I haven't found anyplace else that has the things I'm looking at, including free shipping.

If they rate poorly I would look for a good local nursery to buy plants, and order roses from High Country Roses. Why waste your time and money?

I think the implication is that 'Sam' has been unable to source these plants elsewhere on line? And given the pressure on plant supply again this year, waiting to see if a local nursery will stock any of these plants may leave 'Sam' empty handed.

That selection of plants is available from dozens of online or mail order nurseries! Maybe not all from the same place and probably not with free shipping but with a much better product and better customer service than Jungs, which really does have an overall bad reputation.

And I think the pressure on plant supply may be overrated....or overstated :-) I can pick up any or all of those plants today at 3 local nurseries within a 15 mile drive! And could probably add Walmart and HD to the list, if I plant shopped there.

Re supply, maybe it is/will be not an issue for Americans but anecdotally, speaking with a few of the independent nurseries that I patronize (Canada, on line and brick and mortar), they have told me that again they have been caught in the middle with unreliable supply and great demand.

So the plants I was interested in I have never seen locally. Pink champagne current. Candy stripe phlox. Campfire rose. alpine raspberries. I live in a difficult climate, and the nurseries around here do not typically have a great selection, especially of cold hardy, interesting fruits. Thank you for any who replied with actual experience from the company. I will not ask here again for input. I have ordered from many reputable online vendors and prefer to spend money there. I have also ordered with good results from places like gurneys, which has plenty of poor reviews, when they have something I’m looking for at the right price. when I searched for jungs on gardenweb, most results were positive, but none recently. with Bigger companies, I tend to believe that most people with good experiences do not go online and leave reviews. Hence why I asked here.

Annie's Annuals has perennials too, and is a great company including mailorder. Good luck on finding some treasures.

ha... yeah people are much more likely to leave bad reviews vs take the time and write a good one. It's hard to weed through everything. Just like if you search for “paper cut"… On the third link, you will probably be able to read about someone’s experience about how their life spiraled down from getting a paper cut.

It‘s not a difficult plant to find.

When I was growing up that is where my father would purchase a lot of his roses..... of course that was a long time ago.... I have not ordered roses from them but I have gotten other plants from them "maybe two years ago" and I got nice plants on a timely manner.... don't know if that helps or not.

Hopefully someone who has bought roses from them will chime in.

Thank for the searches. It’s actually bambini candy crush. Not candy stripe. I’ve seen the candy stripe all over the place. I had it at my last home and haven’t ever run into it again. Anyways thanks again for the input. Shelia I’ll look up Annie’s annuals. Never come across that one Before.

@Sam CO z5 - I’m sorry there have been some negative and rather harsh comments here from those who have not experienced the company. I’ve ordered from Jung, Roots & Rhizomes, and Edmunds (same parent company and I would rate them as average. The quality and size of the plants haven’t always been consistent. Most of the time the roses are great. They do beat some competitors on price and have an order with them this year for that reason. I prefer Bluestone Perennials for great quality mail order plants but they are just more expensive but still generally order from them most years.

Dave you're making assumptions. I've ordered from them. I shall not do so again, I'd rather have the reassurance of getting quality plants versus cheap small and possibly mostly dead ones every single time. It's not worth my time to try to baby them into living. You are correct in that the problem is consistency.

Anyway, if you don't want opinions don't ask for any and don't be offended when people try to steer you away from what they perceive as a bad business.

I've ordered from Jung's for over 30 years. I like them for smaller plants which take off faster in my garden, for their prices which are reasonable, for consistently selling plants for the Midwest, and pleasant, easy to reach customer service. Some of their perennials are shipped dormant and bare root, clean of soil; it took me some time to get used to the looks, but I have learned that the bare root plants easily establish themselves with no set backs.

Sorry I didn't answer sooner, but I'm not sure my experience is the most recent. I haven't ordered from Jung recently but have within the last 5 years. I've bought seeds from them for our vegetable garden and they always came up well and were true to type. I can't say that for everyone I've dealt with, including some big name vendors. I have on occasion bought a rose from them. I plant only own root roses and they sent a good sized, bare root, own root rose. Again, they seemed healthy, always grew, always true to type. I have only ordered small plants from them a couple times and this might be why comments have been so negative. The plants were very small and did not reach me in good condition. Some didn't make it. This may have something to do with their shipping methods or their shippers, I don't know. I can't remember ordering trees or shrubs from them. I don't think I ever have. I hope this helps in some way.

Just to update, in case anyone else comes across this thread. My Jungseed order arrived today and it looks awesome! packaged perfectly, nothing broken, large bare root own root rose, two dwarf blueberries with lots of branching, three Striped phlox with multiple cuttings in each pot, a large Champagne current, and a hellebore. It came in two boxes, and honestly the plants look better than I've gotten from numerous other sellers. I would not hesitate to order from them again. The only thing negative was that I never got a shipping notification, they just showed up today.

Sam, I didn't get a shipping notice from another vendor and discovered it was in my junk box.

The funny thing is after I posted this, I got a shipping notification. Same day it was delivered. Better late than never!
