Master Bath Help!

We literally haven’t touched our master bath in 2 years and I can’t figure out what to do. I’m afraid if I use all chrome and silver everything will look kind of glitzy and bland. I love the idea of adding wood and black to the space but I’m not sure how to pull it off. The faucets on our sinks have never been hooked up and I can easily get new ones. Not sure if I should try black or antique brass or something else. The bathtub faucet has to stay chrome but I can swap out (or spray paint) the chandelier as well. Looking for ways to bring in wood/black and a more boho/modern farmhouse feel. I had also purchased these Wood mirrors that I like but I also don’t need to keep them. I also need to pick out sconces as well. Thanks!

Hire a designer, ASAP! That 'Master Bath' looks like one, big, cavernous room, no character to it at all.

What exactly are you looking to add or change? It looks quite new so I can't imagine you want to replace much (if anything). For me, adding in visually heavy black and wood might look too abrupt with the cool pale color scheme you have going on. You can always add some color and softness with towels and art.

@pricklypearcactus I guess I’m just not sure what to choose next. The tub, bath filler and vanity are obviously staying but I haven’t really made any other decisions. I need to choose knobs for the vanity, faucets, mirrors, sconces and then any decor (art, towel hangers, etc). I like the airy look to some extent but if everything is gray, chrome and white I think it’s too boring.. I need some contrast but I’m not sure how to bring that in.

I would suggest connecting the faucets that are now in place so you have a functional space. I like the faucets! I think you can bring in some potted plants, a wood stool by the tub to hold a candle and a glass of wine, some towels in a favorite color, maybe some artwork. You have a very nice bathroom, you should definitely be using it!

You need some warm texture. Rugs, towels, art, etc. I don’t know why you mention white, gray and silver. Pick a color, a real color. Blue? Green? What colors have you used in the bedroom?

My biggest concern is the light over the tub. Where are the contractors or electricians who can advise as to code? It looks like a

I like what you have going on, very serene. I also like the faucets.

I see you have a dark wood floor off the bathroom and I think you could use the dark knobs and the mirror you have and try dark accents in pictures and frames.

@littlebug zone 5 Missouri thank you! Our room isn’t complete either (3 kids under 3 and we do everything ourselves) but I’ll attach a photo of what we have so far! I like neutrals but I think you hit the nail on the head with “texture”.. any Suggestions for rugs?

Remodeling1840 is correct. The lowest part of any chandelier must be at least 8 feet above the highest part of the tub per code.

Your vanity fixtures are a more ornate style (victorian?) and your tub filler is very modern. Your tile layout is also more modern, and the vanity could go either way. I think you should replace the vanity fixtures with something less fussy. What does the shower fixture look like?

You could use the mirrors to bring in warmer color but I think the wooden pulls are a bit big and clunky. I'm not loving black either since it's the only black we can see. I'd just pick pulls to match the fixtures. And I totally agree to get those faucets hooked up and move in there already. You can pretty it up later.

@crcollins1_gw ok thank you! Yes, we just had three babies in three years and we do all the work ourselves so since our other bathroom is functional we’d just lost steam on this project! I think I’ll try a warm rug to bring in the mirrors. What taps do you advise? just chrome?

Anna, please take very seriously the chandelier over the tub. You have tiny babies who need you. If you accidentally touch that light while you are in the tub, you can be seriously injured. If you are standing and throw the towel over your head and it touches the fixture, your family could be facing a tragedy. It is a simple fix. Have the light taken down and a plate installed over the box. Find a romantic candle fixture to hang over the tub. It actually would look more intentional to have a larger fixture. You could have one un-wired and fitted with candle cups. Please.

Yes do a wood frame mirror. Add sconces to brighten the lighting. Add wicker baskets on the bottom that match the tone of your mirrors. Add a wooden stool over by the tub to pull the wood tone over there and balance it. It's also nice to use to put things on. Add some rugs with color or even just white. Right now your lack of lighting isn't helping. You can mix metals if you want, but in the vanity area you will want two to match. I would match the sconces to the vanity hardware. Let the plumbing stand alone. I agree also that your style is mixed, vintage with modern. However I don't see that as a problem if it's balanced.
