Water Crowfoot and Brooklime. The area must be a permanent big/pond, rather than just flooded, or they wouldn’t be there.

Water crowfoot has divided leaves. Further digging points me more towards R hederaceus (Ivy-leaved crowfoot) based on leaf shape.

It is obvious that the water has been there for a while. It is at the bottom of a field, and lies in what are obviously tractor wheel ruts and is a footpath to the 9 Maiden Stone Row. the surrounding grass, though, for a few meters, is in very wet ground.

Common water crowfoot Ranunculus aquatilis, usually has floating kidney shaped leaves at the surface and divided below. I don’t think it’s hederaceus as three leaf texture looks wrong. How about this one? https://species.nbnatlas.org/species/NBNSYS0000002723

Yea, floral. I see what you mean about this bunch. I observed no divided leaves at all, which is why I discarded R. aquatilis. On line images of R. hederaceus show, as you suggest, a totally different texture and images of R. omiophyllus shows leaves that are more cloverish looking.

I think I will take a leaf out of your book and just list as Water crowfoot.
