Yes, it happened to me. Houzz killed off nanadoll, and started using my actual first and last name as a username, which I don't particularly like. But I don't want to descend into the labyrinth of houzz's crazy "tech" support, so I left well enough alone. I don't even have a password--they just let me in. Diane

Under “Edit profile and settings” you can change your email and publicly displayed name.

Thats why you dont put your real name on your profile. Then if they change it, it still wont invade your privacy.

I agree, Sheila. I think my expert son in law made my password "roses forum". It's always one of my open home addresses, so I just click on it at the top of my email page, and lo, Diane Brakefield is admitted to the inner sanctum. Diane

I didnt mean for my comment to sound snotty lol..I just meant one could just write any first and last name on their profile and then if it got hacked or some glitch or whatever happened to Cori Ann, then their real name wouldn't be exposed, if they didnt want it to be.

You can also have an email dedicated to only the forums so nothing from that gets hacked or spammed either.

I am so lucky to not worry about hacking and spamming. I hate to keep referring to him, but son in law has been an expert in cybersecurity for years. Our family network uses the same security as SIL's employer, where he manages the large IT department, and this is the same software the Fed government uses. So, when the Russians hacked us several months ago, SIL had to scramble to correct some things, too, on work security software. We're all in this together--ha. Diane
