Apologies. Does anyone have experience with the Miele MasterCool French door fridge/freezer. The French door bottom mount (KFNF 9955) PerfectCool is garbage which Miele is going to replace.

what didn't you like about the 9955?

We have had problems from the beginning starting with the install. It took 5 new stainless panels to complete the front of the unit so that it didn't have dents or scratches. Next the ice maker didn't work and was replaced. After that the bottom freezer drawer started freezing shut. When we finally got it open, sheets and of ice would fall out of the bottom onto the floor. Next, the drawer wouldn't shut because of all of the ice behind the drawer. I turned off the freezer section, bailed all of the water out of the bottom, then wiped it all dry. Did this Twice during the 7 weeks of waiting for the tech then waiting for the part and waiting more time for the tech to come and do the repair. To add insult to injury, I left the drawer open to completely dry out the unit. There must have been ice inside the front drawer panel because water dripped from it overnight and damaged our wood floors.

To replace the defrost unit the fridge/freezer needs to be pulled out. This is because one of the 3 connection lines on the defrost unit has to be reached from the back. In summary, we had no freezer for 7 weeks and no fridge at all for 10 days.

Now the ice maker is dripping water into the ice bin. This causes the ice to freeze up in huge blocks in the ice bin. And now the saga continues... because the back freezer wall is icing up again and the drawer is freezing shut.

It is an admittedly a poorly designed product. Save yourself the headaches and frustration and avoid this model.

This will be replaced by Miele, I assure you, but I wonder if any of the built-in freezer bottom models are any better?

The 9955 is made by Liebherr. The Master Cool is made in Turkey in a shared Miele Gaggenau factory

Avoid Miele Mastercool. Delivered New Mastercool with faulty door. the door gets stuck when closing and needs a hard push or slam to close. Miele refursed to acknolwedge this as defect and refused to fix it. The product is clearly faulty as the fridge in showroom does not have this problem at all. You are going to get poor quality and no warranty honour after purchase. Avoid Miele at all costs if you don't want defects from brand new.
