How does countertop look so thick?

FMG site says slabs are 6 mm. This application seems to be greater than 20 mm thick. Is this actually a thicker slab or is the porcelain layered on something else?

Tabes, The panels are 6mm thick. When installing a counter top with our material it is recommended to use Kerdi Board from Schluter Systems. This comes in a 1 1/2" thickness and smaller. You can put a plywood base and adhere the kerdi board to the plywood. You can make the return on counter tops any width you like. The fabricator would have to build up the substrate to make the wider return. That is another benefit in using our porcelain slabs, you can have a 3" return with no seams showing. Please feel free to contact us at anaheim@geologicastore.com if you have any questions.
