Paint. Unless you and your family are cooks who might regularly splash stuff from the stove. Interested in what the pros say. If you tile there is the whole question of tiling to the cabinet or the counter...

I would paint the wall. Thinking tiling the whole wall might be overwhelming.

The wall is far enough from the stove to be out of spatter-range. Washable enamel paint is your best bet...just in case.

Is the tile what we see in the picture? I think it may look odd with a strip of the mosaic in middle. Otherwise I’d say tile. But if it’s going to have that in middle I would paint

Paint. That much white tile is not backed up by enough white from the rest of your kitchen and any other type of tile would be too many finishes.

On a functional level, I have a similar set up in my own kitchen and we cook A LOT. I wipe off that wall from time to time, but it has never been an issue.
