Yes, that would look really bad. First, try to match your current floors. If you can't, look for a tile or other material that looks like tile or stone to use next to the wood floors. You can change the color, but using a similar color helps the spaces flow together better.

Where is this being added? Kitchen? Bedrooms?

Where is the brown floor? How many square feet is it? How many other floors do you have on that level of the home?

That doesn't work. Is the problem a discontinued engineered wood product? Is it maple? Can you find a similar product, maybe slightly narrower?

Is the grey plastic? That look is already on its way out.

the maple floor is in my dining room which is a fairly small square area(I can get details in the morning) And the rug is in a hallway in front of stairs that lead into living room. I have tile in kitchen. This maple in dining room and rug in living room. The problem is I need to replace my rug but I ready don’t want this maple foor in my living room. I wanted a light cooler color without having to use rug again.

Your maple floors look really nice, and that gray wood-look is already outdated. You can add an area rug to the living room in the colors you want to decorate with. Having one continuous floor in the dining, entry, and living rooms will look so much better than different types of flooring. An alternative is taking up the wood floors and putting in the flooring you like in all those spaces, but again, I wouldn't use a gray wood.

So remove the natural maple and install the Gray wood. Trying to save 150sf will cost you the look you want. This is why installing flooring in a room-by-room patchwork format is the worst thing you can do is have a different floor for each room.
