Some LG TL machines still have a true Permanent Press cycle. I actually am a fan of Permanent Press/ Casual cycles, however a majority of people my age simply do not understand the benefits, or even the difference. I am sure that has something to do with the change in products on the market.

Thanks. Unfortunately, we're trying to replace a 3.8 cubic foot machine with something that is not much larger. LG doesn't have this option on their smaller top loader and I really don't need a 5 cubic foot model with WiFi, clock radio, espresso dispenser and home alarm system....

Is any clothing sold nowadays anymore treated with the permanent press chemical finish process?

Specific Permanent Press or Wash-in-Wear cycles in the past typically agitated at normal speed with a slow spin, and had a cool down process after the wash period before the first spin. True permanent press treatment calls for washing in hot or warm water to relax the fabric finish for shedding wear wrinkles, then the cool down sets it back to the original contours and avoids resetting-in wrinkles if compressed during spin while the fabric is hot or warm. Cool downs on washers are pointless if the wash is in cold water ... and machine drying will heat-up the clothes and cool them at the end of the dry cycle. Permanent Press washer cycles are more useful when line-drying the clothes.

Whirlpool and Kenmore back in the day (from 1958 forward) had a cool down that partially drained the wash water and refilled with cold water ... 4 or 5 times, twice, or once depending on the variation of the cycle throught the years. Later in the 2000s it was changed to a cold spray in the first spin. Some other brands always used a simple cold spray.
