Woodworking Design Dilemma

Fun kitchen island question

Hi Houzz peers!

I am planning to install a laptop shelf under my island counter-top! and am super excited... dont burst my bubble! See this Houzz photo,[houzz=https://www.houzz.com/photos/west-annapolis-farmhouse-kitchen-dc-metro-phvw-vp~154028443] but will NOT have end legs (ie will be a floating shelf).

Question:

What aesthetic would you pick for the floating laptop shelf ... light oak matching the kitchen floating shelves, walnut color matching the floor, paint to (try) to match the island color, stainless steel to match countertop....or other...? The Island color is more a deep navy than royal blue as pictured. Island counter-top is stainless and other countertop is white quartz. Tile backsplash is a grey-ish white.

have never seen that. nice idea. I'd integrate into the island just like they have. you don't want to draw attention to it, so keep the same color as your island. blue inside as well.
