Difficult to get a sense of scale and perspective with these pics, Pamela. Is the light fixture as large and low as it appears in this pic? What's the scale on the green fabric? Is there room for the chair? Is there a headboard and furniture? Pics of the four walls or an idea of measurements will help the Pros.

Understand your husband's reticence at adding the green fabric with the b&w curtain fabric. Traditional (aka classic) and contemporary can be mixed but you need a deft hand for ratios. I've read that 80/20 is the way to go. Here, your moulding is classic but your curtains and light fixture are contemporary. Getting a vintage feel from the lampshade and bedding but hard to know for certain from these pics.

Ok, I do love that apple green color, and it can work very well with black and white and perk it right up.

But here's the thing. Things.

Those really do not look like bedroom chairs.

They look like dining room chairs.

Maybe living room chairs for people with bad backs that need straight chairs.

That straight back, no arms, wooden frames, those are not for the bedroom, sorry.

Not in any color.

I don't know if your husband doesn't like the green or the fact that the fabric looks too formal to him. He may want to sit on the chair in his underwear, and he may not feel he can do that on that fabric.

I think bedroom chairs are better off being a club chair or a bergere style, or a spool chair, something much more comfortable. You can sit in it to put on your shoes and to sit back and read a book.

If your husband is in love with the curtains you made, then I guess you are stuck with them.

Cover the chairs with the green fabric and put them in the living room.

Find some other chairs for the bedroom and find a different fabric that you both can agree on.

Maybe a black and white toile with a green trim, or a green and white toile with a black and white trim.

I suggest a toile because you can find ones with a lot of white and lesser amounts of green so your husband won't flip out so much.

You can sew up shams for large Euro pillows for the bed in matching fabric, and purchase green and white trim to sew onto the sides and bottom of the curtains.

You can make throw cushions for the chairs in the same fabric as the curtains and use a green trim.

If toile doesn't suit, try another green on white pattern such as leaves or ferns on a white background with a black and white or black and white and green trim.

I would try a flat fabric that doesn't feel "fancy." No cut velvet, or damask, or embroidered, nothing like that, nothing that reminds him of his grandmother. He needs to feel relaxed in there.

I agree that the fixture is too low and we will adjust that. 3. You are right about the chairs- thank you- I will find another spot for them- or sell them. 4. I am rethinking colour scheme- even the drapes- I have another room to do upstairs and may use them there. 5. I am going to go over each and every suggestion carefully. I have great respect for designers and I am grateful for your expert advise.

Thinking of replacing DR light fixture with something like this and pairing present DR fixture with black and white curtains in craft/ office room.

This is tied to the bedroom because it involves removing present curtains.

So in the dining room, you only want to switch out light fixtures. If so, w/o seeing the rest of the dining room, your choice looks like a good one.
