issue with house plan

I’m building a ICF cottage and am having a hard time deciding if the entire living area / kitchen should be cathedral. If I make it
cathedral the entry closet will look strange I think (will have to either follow contour of wall or have a flat top) but if I make the cathedral only the first 11ft in the front of the house I feel like that will look short. The rest of the ceilings are 9’5”. Will it look better all cathedral or how it is in this plan ? Also the hallway won’t be in the Center which may also look odd and Woodstove pipe will be visible for entire height of cathedral. Any ideas or tips. ? I hand drew the wall of concern quickly to show the issues. Thanks.

I’d do all one ceiling height with that floor plan.

It’s facing the lake and I have gable windows so I need either all or part of it cathedral. How would I make the closet look ok. Follow contour of wall or flat across ?

I have no idea what an ICF is.

There's only one bathroom for all that space? With a shared bathroom for the master? I think that would be a problem. IMO the house needs another 3/4 bathroom.

I like the cathedral ceiling more. Let the closet follow the ceiling. You can put shelving in the tall area of the closet and store stuff like Christmas decorations up there.

I also have no idea was ICF means. The only thing I could think of was Ikea Crappy Furniture.

I had to look it up - the internet is a wonderful tool! What is ICF

just in Case link doesn’t work - it’s “ insulating concrete forms” cast in place concrete walls

Yes you are correct!! :) It’s on concrete slab and since it’s just a camp that’s why we only have the one bathroom. Limited space since utility room needs to be all on the main floor since no basement. So I guess most people think cathedral the entire way would look better.

Flat ceiling will keep your costs down.

Curious design. Vault everything if those are the binary choices. Why is the wood stove situated away from seating areas? In my experience people tend to cluster around them when they are lit. The bath is a ton of wasted space- door opens to a wall so you walk around the shower... in the same space you could have a 5’ vanity opposite the door, then the toilet, then a much nicer shower. The mechanical room seems overly large for a part time home as well. I assume this part of the house will have an attic so some things could go up there (water heater for instance)

Since it gets to -40 where I live It is highly recommended to not place water lines in styrofoam of outside insulated concrete walls so it limits locations of waterlines. And the stove when placed in the corner near the living room causes the stove pipe outside the house to need to be 15ft above the shingles so there’s all that to think about also.

The bathroom needs a major re-design. Right now, you open the door and walk right into the shower.
