You don't need to catch the grass. Mowing chops it up so it sifts down to the soil and refeeds the soil microbes.

I agree with dchall_san_antonio. If the grass is a little long blow the cuttings into the uncut part. By the time you finish you may have to run the mower through the last row of clippings, from experience probably not.

I do not see collecting and throwing away my clippings and then buying more grass seed, fertilizer, and other expensive lawn treatments. Then the next time you mow repeat the money wasting process . To me it seems like a bureaucrat thing, I am retired and must spend my money where it has the greatest effect.

Shucks, looks like I should have explained myself in further detail. I only wish to occasionally bag some clippings to use as mulch to help smother weeds among some of the planting beds. I'm not so young anymore and have a vast lawn and gardens. I'm also a fulltime caregiver to a mother suffering with dementia, I'm only attempting to cut down on the terrible amount of time and effort I'm constantly needing to expend in every direction! There's sooo much weeding that if I ever finish up, I'm again starting the next round, the weeds come on fast and furious! I always do mulch the clippings and autumn fallen leaves back into the lawn and never have I tossed out a bag of clippings or leaves.

Since all of the leaf and grass collection devices have quite small volumes I use a leaf blower and a large tarp. Blow the material onto the tarp clean up a little around the tarp and drag the tarp to the location where you need them. I have even thought about using my lawn tractor to pull the tarp to the new location.

For your task, could you get grandchildren or neighbor children to help? If not for free, a couple of bucks per job. It would be a big help to you as you could spend more time with your main job, and would give the kids some spending money.
