My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.
Can anyone please tell me if this this quotation is average? The quotation does NOT include transportation ...and is there another approach to build something similar for less? Thank you!
Thank you for your response. I don't know anything about Barns, but the price seems a bit higher than what I had in mind. Plus, the transportation in not included.
It’s only 1/4 of the materials you need for a house, and none of the labor or transportation to get that 1/4 there. There’s still the 75% of the products you need remaining. And the products are only 1/3 of the overall total. You still would need to add the 2/3 of the total cost labor. So, only 1/12th of the 500K you’ll need to pay for.
That’s a big pile of Ikea parts only. With most parts missing. Not a house. Stick building a house is cheaper. Even now.
That doesn’t include foundation, well or septic either. So, there is another 50k or so. And you still have to have someone run plumbing, electrical and your heat. And what about everything for the inside? Cabinets, fixtures, ect.
In my neck of the woods (midwest), you can get new industrial space for ~$40/sf That includes concrete, basic MEP, all materials and labor. COVID may have temporarily made my frame of reference invalid, but your cost for (partial) materials only seems crazy.
