Do you have a team assembled? Contractor/Designer you trust? They will have a much better idea of materials and timelines specific to your project. Yes, supply chains are all over the place, but you can't predict the future.

What ifs

1. Covid vaccines are beginning to make a difference with supply chains. Maybe everything will go back to "normal" in 6 months, but maybe not. Maybe supplier's profit margins have been pretty good, and they want to keep them that way.

2. There's a 2 trillion dollar infrastructure bill in consideration in the US. There's already a construction labor shortage; what do you think adding to the demand will do to labor prices?

The point is, nobody can really know. If you want to work on a remodel, start finding people you trust and work with them to find solutions that work for you.

And just a note to other homeowners: Jeff is very good at Youtube, but sometimes things he recommends are questionable and even totally wrong. He is known to delete any comments from other pros that even slightly disagree with how he does things. Watcher beware.

Yes, we have a contractor we trust, and a design that is about to go in for permits. I think I watched this video way too late last night and it got in my head a little bit 😂.
In the end I don't think I really want to play the waiting/guessing game. We've already waited a year. If prices start to blow our budget I'll have to make compromises.

Depending on where you are, some supplies are going to be hard to get. We are building a house and we’re told by our supplier that there will be a lot of disappointed people that won’t be able to finish their projects because they didn’t get the supplies ordered soon enough.
